Lewandowski considering EPL move

Robert Lewandowski is considering a move to the Premier League after growing increasingly unsettled at Bayern Munich according to The Daily Mail

The Polish striker has resisted interest in the past from clubs such as Manchester United, preferring to make his name in Germany at Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.

He is currently discussing an extension with his contract at Bayern but is understood to have told friends he is willing to entertain alternatives as his talks continue.

The 27-year-old may yet sign a new deal if other offers don’t eventuate, but it is understood he feels in need of a new challenge.

Ranieri may leave Leceister city

Daily Star reported that Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri will sign a new big-money deal after Euro 2016 to tie him to the Premier League champions until 2018.

Leicester are finding it hard to stick with their top stars and this is increasing the frustration of their manager.

Leicester are moving fast to tie him down to a new deal as his current contract ends this season.

The Italian’s next signing could be in the form of Norwich winger Robbie Brady according to The Times.

Hazard may miss EURO 2016

An injury suffered by Eden Hazard during training on Friday is not serious and will not cause the Chelsea star to miss Belgium’s opening European Championship fixture against Italy on Monday.

Hazard, 25, left the pitch after 50 minutes after having his foot stood on during a practice match between the expected starting XI and the reserves, but Belgium coach Marc Wilmots played down the severity of the situation.

“I don’t think it is serious, just a knock.” Wilmots told reporters, and also confirmed he had a fully-fit squad to work with, including Thomas Vermaelen who was considered a doubt earlier in the week.”

“Thomas has done well in training over the last days and is completely ready for the battle,” Wilmots added. “He has no more problems.”

Nigeria football federation may retire No. 4 shirt following Stephen Keshi's death

Nigeria are considering retiring the No. 4 shirt in honour of their former player and coach Stephen Keshi, who died this week at the age of 54.

Amaju Pinnick, president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), told SuperSport magazine show "Soccer Africa" it is one of many proposals being considered to immortalise Keshi.

Speaking to ESPN FC on Thursday, Pinnick repeated that there are several plans under consideration.

Pinnick said: "A stadium in his home state of Delta State was already going to be named after him even before he died. He visited the stadium with me and was happy about the plans.

"We will also consider retiring the No. 4 jersey that Keshi used during his time as an international player, but that will have to go through the technical committee and, of course, other relevant international bodies like FIFA and CAF would also have to give permission."

Nigeria's Sports Minister Solomon Dalung also said the federal government had plans to honour him.

"He was one of Nigeria's heroes whose contributions to the development of football and Nigeria's sports in general cannot be quantified, and I want to assure Nigerians that government will seek ways to immortalise him," Dalung said in a media statement.

Jamie Vardy turns down Arsenal move?

Jamie Vardy may have opted against a move to the Emirates, former Arsenal midfield Ray Parlour claims.

The Gunners were said to be close to signing the England international last week after they activated the £20m release clause in his Leicester City contract and offered a three-year deal on wages worth £120,000-a-week. However, the player seems to have taken a huge U-turn since then, and he is now considering extending his stay at the King Power Stadium on an improved salary package. "It looks like it isn't happening now. I was at the Arsenal the other day and there were big reports flying around, and the club's cameramen and digital staff had to get down to the training ground," Parlour told talkSPORT. "So it looked like it was going to happen - there was a medical being done. But it seems Vardy thought about it while on England duty, and suddenly there was a U-turn." Vardy could feature for the Three Lions in their Euro 2016 opener against Russia on Saturday.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic not allowed to leave Sweden camp for Man United talk

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's potential move to Manchester United looks to be on hold for the time being after Sweden coach Erik Hamren stressed it "would not be OK" for the striker to fly to England to finalise a transfer.

Ibrahimovic is currently with the Sweden squad in France preparing for their Euro 2016 opener against Republic of Ireland on Monday.

The 34-year-old, who is out of contract at Paris Saint-Germain this summer, has been heavily linked with United.

A source told ESPN FC last week that the Red Devils were in advanced talks with Ibrahimovic, and on Tuesday the player himself, having been asked about the move directly, refused to confirm whether or not he was set to join United, adding: "You will have to have patience."

And now Sweden boss Hamren has had his say on the speculation surrounding his captain.

Asked by reporters if he thought the United talk would affect Ibrahimovic, Hamren is quoted by Goteborgs-Posten as saying: "I'm 100 percent sure it won't affect Zlatan. He's been in the game for a long time. Players have leisure time on their schedule, and I can't control what they do then."

Then when asked if it was OK for Ibrahimovic to fly somewhere to finalise a transfer such as Manchester, he said: "It would not be OK for Zlatan to fly to Manchester."

Hamren also said he does not believe the speculation will have a negative impact on the rest of the Sweden squad.

"I understand there is a lot of Zlatan media. Not only in Sweden. I understand that," he said.

"But with us, it is nothing. He handles it perfectly. The players are familiar with it. You can be calm -- there is nothing that has affected us negatively in the group. Absolutely nothing."

Jamie Vardy, James Milner dropped for England's Euro 2016 opener

Jamie Vardy and James Milner are likely to miss out when Roy Hodgson picks his England team to face Russia for Saturday's Euro 2016 opener in Marseille, according to multiple reports.

The Daily Mail claims the formation used by Hodgson in training sessions behind closed doors in Chantilly this week has led the players to believe that Vardy and Milner will be the men to pay the price for England's underwhelming display in their final tournament warm-up game -- a 1-0 win against Portugal.

The Daily Telegraph, meanwhile, reports that Raheem Sterling and Adam Lallana are foremost in Hodgson's thinking to replace Vardy and Milner in an attacking 4-2-3-1 system designed to exploit Russia's injury-hit midfield -- Igor Denisov and Alan Dzagoev have both been ruled out of the tournament -- and veteran central defensive partnership of Vasili Berezutski and Sergey Ignashevich.

England captain Wayne Rooney is expected to start in a slightly withdrawn role behind Harry Kane, while Dele Alli partners Tottenham Hotspur teammate Eric Dier in the centre of midfield, according to The Times.

After an injury-plagued season that saw him play just 141 minutes for Arsenal, Jack Wilshere reportedly fears he has not featured enough in England's recent warm-up matches to earn a starting spot against Russia, while the game will also come too soon for Jordan Henderson, who struggled with fitness problems towards the end of Liverpool's campaign.

Despite enduring an underwhelming first season at Manchester City, Sterling registered assists against Australia and Portugal, while Lallana also impressed from the bench. Hodgson is reportedly keen to make the most of Russia's vulnerabilities with a starting XI that possesses pace and creativity.

Danny Rose will keep his place at left-back with Ryan Bertrand only returning to full training on Thursday after a knock, while Kyle Walker is expected to start ahead of Nathaniel Clyne on the right as Hodgson keeps faith with the same back four that secured a clean sheet against Portugal.

Hodgson is yet to inform his players of his team to face Russia, and The Times reports that he will finalise his plans in England's last training session on Friday before the squad leave their Chantilly base for Marseille.

Dr Steve Peters also arrived in Chantilly on Thursday to give England's players a motivational talk, and the psychiatrist will continue to work with the squad in a consultancy capacity throughout the tournament.

"He is a good addition, a fresh addition and he is there if you need him," England goalkeeper Joe Hart told reporters of Dr Peters on Thursday. "We sit down as a group, work together and try to get the best out of each other."

Manchester United's David De Gea accused of setting up rape.

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has been named in an investigation into a sexual assault by a protected witness, who alleged he arranged a sexual encounter between two Spain under-21 players and two women in a Madrid hotel in 2012, according to multiple reports.

In testimony quoted on Friday by Eldiario.es, the witness, who is under police protection, said that in 2012 she was threatened and coerced into having sexual relations with Athletic Bilbao's Iker Muniain and another under-21 football player whose identity she could not confirm.

Spanish media, citing police sources, reported that De Gea has not broken the law, but the timing of the news comes as the European Championship begins in France. Spanish federation media chief Paloma Antoraz on Friday said the federation would not be addressing the subject.

The witness testimony is part of the case against jailed pornography impresario Ignacio Allende Fernandez, known as "Torbe," who was arrested in April on charges of child pornography, sexual exploitation, sexual aggression, human trafficking for pornography, extortion, blackmail and tax fraud.

El Pais, citing police sources, said a police report links De Gea, Munain and Real Madrid's Isco to the testimony. El Diario and El Confidencial also cite police sources.

In her testimony, the protected witness, known to the police as TP3, said that she was taken to a five-star Madrid hotel by Fernandez and forced into an encounter with two football players against her will. She testified that Fernandez told her she and another woman would be paid well.

The newspaper cites police reports that say Fernandez ordered her to "do whatever the football players wanted" and told her she would be well paid. When she refused, Fernandez reportedly grabbed her by the arm and told her she and the other woman would do as he said.

According to the newspaper account of the police report: "The witness known as TP3 as well as the other woman were sexually abused and when they refused they were also hit. Following the sexual encounter they were threatened to remain silent about what happened in the hotel room. Neither TP3 nor the other woman were paid for the encounter."

El Diario also said that the witness known as TP3 later identified one of the two football players as Muniain, and that De Gea set up the hotel room meeting with help from Fernandez.

The reports said Spanish police investigating the case said the witness' statement was "highly credible."

The allegations come on the first day of Euro 2016 in France. Spain are due to play their first game against Czech Republic on Monday and De Gea is with the national team training in Ile de Re, an island off the west coast of France near La Rochelle.

Muniain's agent, Txus Medina, told The Guardian: "We do not know anything at all about this case. Neither the police nor the courts have been in touch to request any kind of information."

De Gea, Muniain and Isco played together in the UEFA Under-21 Championship in 2013, with Spain winning the tournament held in Israel.

Copa America Group Stage Qualification Permutations

The top two teams in each group will qualify for the quarterfinals of the Copa America Centenario.

In the event of teams being level on points, the tiebreakers are as follows:

1) Total goal difference in the group
2) Total goals scored in the group
3) Result between the teams
4) Drawing of lots

GROUP A

Colombia: Has already qualified for the quarterfinals and will take top spot if United States does not beat Paraguay in the first game of the day. If United States beats Paraguay, then Colombia must take at least a point against Costa Rica to finish top. This could be important in avoiding a meeting with Brazil in Seattle (winner of Group A plays the runner-up for Group B).

United States: Must beat Paraguay to ensure its is in the quarterfinals. However, a point will almost certainly be enough as Costa Rica would need to beat Colombia by a minimum of six goals to overtake the U.S. on goal difference if level on points.

Paraguay: Must beat United States to go into second place, and then hope Costa Rica does not win big vs. Colombia.

Costa Rica: Firstly, it will be eliminated if United States beats Paraguay. If United States draws, Costa Rica must beat Colombia by at least six goals. If Paraguay beats United States, then Costa Rica would need to win by at least four goals (if Paraguay wins by one goal). If Costa Rica and Paraguay were to finish with identical points and goal difference, lots will be drawn for second place (group game was 0-0).

GROUP B

Brazil: Will already be through if Ecuador has not beaten Haiti. If Ecuador wins against Haiti, then Brazil needs a point against Peru to go through due to its superior goal difference with their opponents. If Ecuador has beaten Haiti by at least six goals, then Dunga’s team could need to win the game to finish first. Brazil can only be eliminated if it loses to Peru and Ecuador beats Haiti.

Peru: Again, it will already be through if Ecuador has not won against Haiti. If Ecuador beats Haiti by two or more goals, then Peru must beat Brazil to qualify. If Ecuador beats Haiti by one goal, and Peru draws, then points and goal difference will be level — it will then come down to goals scored and if that is still level second place would be decided by a drawing of lots as the group game between the two nations finished 2-2. A win for Peru would guarantee a place in the final eight no matter score Ecuador wins by.

Ecuador: Must beat Haiti in the first game of the day, and will be guaranteed to progress if it wins by two goals. If it wins by one goal, then it must hope there is a winner between Brazil and Peru to be sure of going through, otherwise it could end up in a drawing of lots (see above).

Haiti: Has been eliminated.

GROUP C

Mexico: Already through, and needs a point against Venezuela to secure top spot and avoid a likely quarterfinal date with Argentina (winner of Group C plays the runner-up of Group D)

Venezuela: Has qualified, but must beat Mexico to win the group.

Uruguay: Has been eliminated.

Jamaica: Has been eliminated.
